PONLEU

Ponleu Prom is a Cambodian artist born in 1994. Trained at the “Colours of Cambodia” art school, he became one of its teachers.

His works use the Lotus, a central symbol in Buddhist culture: Symbolizing the fight against adversity through its strength to grow in difficult conditions, the Lotus offers its seeds as food, its flowers for Tea, its leaves for cooking and their fibers for making fabrics, its roots finally in traditional medicine. In Buddhist practice, Lotus flowers are associated with prayers for happiness and are depicted in most temples and pagodas.

It is with its multicolored fields of Lotus that Ponleu creates works that are soothing and conducive to contemplation.

The Lotus fields bathing in water are in fact just an invitation to look between the flowers, in the reflection on the water. We then distinguish the true object of each work.
