Indian ink on paper
The Lotus is a symbol of purity and rebirth among Buddhists. An essential plant, the Lotus offers its seeds as food, its flowers for Tea, its leaves for cooking and its fibers for making fabrics. Finally, its roots are used in traditional medicine.
In Buddhist practice, Lotus flowers are associated with prayers for happiness and are depicted in most temples and pagodas.
Sothy Chhim's poetry is expressed in traditional painting as well as in abstraction or even in homage to calligraphy and Indian ink drawings.
With this work on paper, he shares the serenity that the simple sight of a bird resting on a Lotus gives him.
