Black brown sandstone, white Raku enamel
Research - aesthetic as well as mathematical - is an integral part of Laure and Jason Theodosiou's creative process.
This vase combines an identifiable 3D printing technique in the center of this vase, with the Raku firing technique at its base and top.
The undulatory patterns in the center of this vase are finely studied, calibrated, and modeled using computers, based on experiments according to the types - and properties - of the earths used (porcelain, sandstone or clays), before be completed by the direct intervention of the artist's hand.
“The objective is to merge the intelligence of the hand and the machine for the benefit of artistic creation. This combination of craftsmanship, design and science aims to magnify the object by working on shape, pattern and texture until an overall harmony is achieved."
